Aug 10. Butts Cabin to Ram Wigwam CG

The weather forecast was for rain all day off-and-on, but not thunderstorms. Not knowing the conditions of the "road" and knowing we'd be climbing over cabin pass (5600 ft) we woke up early and started riding at 8 am. We were happy to find the road easily ridable with a few washouts, plenty of small ponds, and the rain held off until we reached the pass. We put on rain gear and descended on a steady, gentle grade, on a narrow but good gravel road to find Linda and Mildred at the Ram Wigwam Campsite.

Linda had already set up our tents under some pine trees protected from the rain.‎ The sun came out as we set up our tarp and had the lunch we hadn't eaten while we were riding because of the rain. We had the company of a tame deer, while setting up camp and eating lunch.

With the sun out we explored the beautiful Wigwam River and heard about the large bull trout spawning 10 miles up the river. We enjoyed the late afternoon sun at the rocky beach of the wigwam river, drinking beer, and reviewing the route for tomorrow.
